Working at Criterion Asia Recruitment : BD Manager Interview

Meet Khun Mabel Ip, Business Development Manager at Criterion Asia Recruitment. She recently sat down with us to share about her career and what it’s like to work at Criterion Asia.

Give us a brief background about your work experience and responsibility?
My previous experience is working with luxury hotel chains in Sales. I’m a multicultural global mindset Sales Professional from Hong Kong and Canada. For the past ten years, I have been working in the hospitality industry in Thailand on the beautiful Islands of Koh Samui, Phuket and Chiangmai.

I am currently the Business Development Manager at Criterion Asia Recruitment in Bangkok. Speaks English, Mandarin and Cantonese. My job involves helping Criterion obtain better brand recognition, finding new growth opportunities for the company and forming strategic partnerships that open up new markets. I research organizations and identify new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products, and services – or new ways of reaching existing markets.

Why you decide to join with Criterion Asia?
Criterion workplace has a flat organization structure. Colleagues here are comfortable collaborating with each other. Our team is clear on its goals, and we are incentivized through compensation structure and recognition. With that foundation, we can apply our personality and values to define how we will accomplish those goals.

How do you feel about the working environment at Criterion Asia Recruitment?
I thrive in a work environment that values flexibility and work-life balance. As an expat in Criterion, I enjoy working with my colleagues even though I can’t speak Thai. We share meaningful conversations, and they help me often when I need translation. I feel our team cares about each other and helps me at other aspects of life not only work issues. I like Criterion has an open-door policy. I think it’s really important for management to be open about what’s going well and what’s going poorly with the business. I like discussing both the good and the bad.
